Epoxy Flooring With Chips
Chips/Flakes For Epoxy Polyaspartic Urethane Floor Coatings | 58 Blends | 6 Sizes | Vinyl
Decorative Vinyl Color Chips/Flakes are specially formulated paint aggregates used to enhance the aesthetic qualities of seamless epoxy, polyurea, polyaspartic and urethane resin flooring systems. The chips/flakes are diffused into an epoxy, polyurea, polyaspartic or colored urethane base coating. For partial broadcast, apply chips at the rate of 1 lb. of chips per 20 to 200 square feet of floor. However, blends with intense, rich and bright colors such as lime green, hot pink, dark blue are not recommended for outdoor use as they fade and change color over a period of 1 to 2 year. 7 Step Helpful Guide On How To Epoxy A Garage Floor With Flakes
When epoxy coating a garage floor with flakes, you need to coat the flakes with a tough, durable, clear top coat to lock them in. Increased protection thanks to the topcoatA standard epoxy floor may or may not have a topcoat, but an epoxy floor with flakes must have a topcoat to seal the flakes. The clear topcoat, which is often polyurethane, increases the toughness and flexibility of the epoxy garage floor. Some of the important points to keep in mind when preparing the concrete floor for an epoxy application are:
Remove all dirt and dust on the floor
Get rid of oil and grease stains
Ensure concrete is dry and has low moisture content
Create a rough surface profile for coatings to take hold
Rinse off residue from acid pickling or cleaning solvents
Grind topical sealer onto concrete
Get rid of hot tire tracks
